Data Erasure Method That Is Internationally Accepted Now In India

In recent times, data erasure has been seen as a necessity rather than a choice. Gone are the days when companies would keep lots of data on their hard drives even after they had been retired from service. The world is now facing a massive data explosion and businesses have no clue how to handle it. In order to reduce this deluge of information, many companies have started turning to a new form of data erasure called “disk degaussing“.

There is a new way in which data can be erased internationally, and it is called Secure Erase. This process is both legal and efficient, and has recently been accepted by the Indian government. The main reason behind India’s decision was due to Secure Erase’s ability to overwrite hard drives at least three times before erasing them – something that makes it more reliable than traditional data erasure methods.

Data erasure is a process used to permanently remove data from computer storage media, thereby ensuring that it cannot be retrieved.

India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) has approved the use of United States Department of Defense (US DOD) 5220.22-M international data erasure standard for the deletion of data on hard disks, flash drives, tapes etc.
